Asurity Advisors hires Tim Stokes as managing director

Asurity Advisors, a Washington, DC-based financial services consulting firm, has hired Tim Stokes as a managing director.
Based in Houston, Stokes brings 25 years of financial services experience, having worked at banks, regulatory agencies, and consulting firms. He has extensive experience in regulatory compliance, fintech oversight, and strategic risk mitigation, including Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws and regulations.
Stokes has advised numerous financial institutions on the development and execution of remediation and settlements action plans in response to enforcement actions.
He most recently was a managing director at FTI Consulting and a director at Treliant. Before that, he was a VP and chief compliance officer at Patriot Bank and VP of compliance and operations at Members Choice Credit Union.
Stokes was also previously a senior regulatory outreach specialist at the US Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.
He began his career at Accenture, where he was a staff accounting analyst.
Stokes has a bachelor’s degree in organizational psychology from the University of Houston and is a certified regulatory compliance manager.

Asurity was founded in 2015 and has 62 employees listed on LinkedIn. The firm works with financial services and mortgage industry clients on engagements in consumer financial regulations, financial crimes, compliance, and risk management.
