Alvarez & Marsal hires Anthony Italiano and Ross Stallings as managing directors

Consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has hired Anthony Italiano as a managing director in its New York office and Ross Stallings as a managing director in its Atlanta office.
Italiano will serve as co-leader of A&M’s broker-dealer investigations and compliance practice, which launched in October. The practice supports clients with solutions in trading surveillance, regulatory inquiries, compliance assessments, and risk control frameworks.
He brings 25 years of consulting and financial services experience focusing on regulatory and litigation matters. Italiano has extensive expertise in non-financial regulatory reporting, including issue identification, remediation, regulatory and internal investigations, and violations of the short swing profit rule.
He joins A&M from FTI Consulting, where he spent seven years and was a senior managing director and co-leader of the broker-dealer regulatory governance and disputes practice. Before that, he was a senior manager at EY and an SVP in the regulatory investigations division of Bank of America.
He began his career at Merrill Lynch, where he was latterly an AVP in the compliance surveillance division.
“Anthony’s deep regulatory and investigative background strengthens our offering and ability to help clients navigate current disputes and compliance challenges while avoiding future ones. His approach aligns seamlessly with A&M’s results-driven mindset and operational heritage,” said Christopher Chatfield, co-leader of the broker-dealer investigations and compliance practice.
Stallings joins the corporate transactions group (CTG), which launched in June 2024. He brings 20+ years of consulting and industry experience focusing on M&A integrations, separations, and value creation.
He has advised on stock purchases, asset acquisitions, carveout divestitures, tax-free spinoffs, IPOs, and joint ventures ranging in enterprise value from $50 million to over $60 billion.
Stallings joins A&M from KPMG, where he spent 14 years and most recently served as partner and US leader for the finance strategy practice. Before that, he was assistant controller for the EMEA region at software firm MFG and an auditor at Decosimo.
“Ross’ appointment builds on the momentum of our recent key hires like Ginger Kelley, Joe Deegan, and Lyna Sun. His broad operational background and insights will help clients navigate regulatory complexities while capitalizing on improving debt market opportunities – and bridge the gap between strategy and execution that can bolster their standing as they face both separation and integration issues,” said Preston Parker, managing director and practice leader of CTG.
