Econic Partners, a Los Angeles-based economic consulting firm, has launched new aviation sector and China antitrust practices.

The new practice announcements arrive shortly after the firm’s launch in February. Econic is backed by Goldman Sachs Alternatives and the family offices of economists Robert Willig and Janusz Ordover.

The consultancy has approximately 125 experts and consultants across locations in Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Chicago, Boston, and Washington, DC. Econic advises on economic issues in antitrust litigation, mergers, and commercial disputes.

The aviation practice is being launched by new additions Darin Lee, PhD; Ethan Singer, PhD; and Erin Secatore. They will advise industry clients on regulatory, competition, and public policy matters, as well as on labor and employment and commercial litigation in the aviation space.

The China antitrust practice will be led by new hire Elizabeth Wang, PhD, a leading economist in Chinese antitrust matters with decades of experience in economic analysis and regulatory issues. Wang will be joined by Sophie Yang, PhD, and additional senior staff.

“We have seen tremendous growth since our launch last month and are deeply grateful for the immense trust of our clients and of the professionals who have joined us,” said Jonathan Orszag, a founding partner of Econic. “Our goal is not only to be at the forefront of economic consulting, but also to create a firm that attracts the very best economists from around the world. We are excited about the road ahead for Econic.”

Econic also announced the strengthening of its North American antitrust practice. The firm added a dozen experts, consultants, and academic affiliates, including Erica Benton, PhD; Brett Dickey, PhD; and Josephine Duh, PhD.
