Plante Moran appoints three senior leaders

Plante Moran, a Southfield, MI-based accounting and consulting firm, has appointed Bill Brickey as head of its Detroit office, Matthew Kelly as head of its K-12 education practice, and Alisha Watkins as head of its government practice, effective July 1.

In his new role, Brickey will focus on developing and growing the Detroit office’s staff and supporting its practice development efforts.

Brickey is a partner who has been at Plante Moran since 1998. He has extensive experience providing audit, tax, and consulting services to clients in automobile retail, professionals services, and government.

He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wayne State University and is a certified public accountant.

Kelly will lead a team that supports 200+ educational institutions, including K-12 districts, intermediate school districts, private schools, and public-school academies. He will continue to lead the Kalamazoo, MI office.

A partner who has been at Plante Moran since 2005, Kelly has extensive expertise in financial statements, benefit plan audits, reviews, and compilations, as well as tax and general business advisory.

He has a BS and MSA from Western Michigan University and is a certified public accountant.

Based in the firm’s Southfield headquarters, Watkins will oversee a team of 200+ governmental professionals that support clients on strategic initiatives, operational best practices, financial forecasts, and compliance requirements.

During her 20+ career at Plante Moran, Watkins has specialized in advising healthcare clients including hospitals, health systems, senior living facilities, rehab facilities, ad continuing care retirement communities. She has expertise across audit, finance, strategy, and operations consulting. 

Watkins has a master’s degree in accounting from Walsh College and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Heidelberg University, and is a certified public accountant.

Plante Moran recently acquired Tonneson + Co, a Boston-based accounting consulting firm.
