ButcherJoseph & Co. hires Thomas Dudley as director in ESOP practice
ButcherJoseph & Co., a St. Louis-headquartered boutique investment banking firm, has hired Thomas Dudley as a director in its employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) advisory practice.
Based in Austin, Dudley will provide strategic advice to employee-owned companies on ownership structure optimization, recapitalization planning, and long-term sustainability strategies.
He will also lead a national initiative to engage mature ESOP-owned companies seeking recapitalization as well as represent ButcherJoseph at several upcoming industry conferences.
Thomas most recently spent nine years as co-founder and CEO of Certified Employee-Owned, a national certification program for employee-owned companies. Under his leadership, the organization established a national standard for employee ownership and grew its network to 700+ companies.
Before that, Thomas spent three years at Bain & Company, where he was an analyst supporting engagements in strategy, organizational transformation, and performance improvement.
He has a master’s degree in statistics from Stanford University and bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and physics from the University of Virginia.

An ESOP is a benefit plan that give employees part ownership by granting shares or providing the right to purchase shares.
ButcherJoseph has extensive expertise in sale transactions to strategic and financial buyers, ESOPs, capital advisory (debt and equity), and valuations and fairness opinions.
