Accenture promotes Rachel Frey to chief communications officer

Accenture, a Dublin, Ireland-headquartered management and technology consulting firm, has promoted Rachel Frey to the newly created role of chief communications officer.

Frey, who most recently served as global head of corporate communications, will join Accenture’s global management committee and will report to chair and CEO Julie Sweet.

As CCO, Frey will lead internal communications, global media relations, financial communications, public affairs communications, and crisis management.

“With her extensive experience at Accenture, Rachel brings a deep understanding of our business, people, and impact as well as a strong track record of helping us engage and connect with our external stakeholders,” Sweet said. “I am excited for her to take on this expanded role at a time when clear communication has never been more important.”

Frey has been with Accenture for 28 years and has more than two decades of communications experience. As global head of corporate communications, she managed the firm’s relationships with external audiences, developed its earned communications strategy centering on AI reinvention, and used data and AI to optimize Accenture’s comms function.

Frey previously served as managing director for North American corporate communications and as senior manager for media relations and industry analyst relations.

She began her career at Accenture as an analyst working on business process consulting engagements in the entertainment industry.

Frey has a master’s degree in English and literature from UC Irvine and a bachelor’s degree in English and literature from Barnard College.

“I am thrilled to step into this role at such an important moment for Accenture and for our industry,” Frey said. “Communications are central to how we build trust, advance our strategy and help our clients and our people navigate reinvention with clarity and confidence.”

Accenture has 784,000 people globally providing services in technology, management consulting, and digital.
