EFESO Management Consultants launches Mining, Metals & Minerals practice
EFESO Management Consultants, a global specialist in operations strategy and performance improvement, has launched its Mining, Metals & Minerals practice in the Americas.
From its headquarters in Europe and other hubs worldwide, EFESO Management Consultants has an established track record of helping companies in mining, metals, and minerals industries with operations expertise across the value chain – from resource extraction and primary processing through refining, conversion, shaping, finishing, and customer delivery.
Topics the consulting firm works on include supply chain resilience, enhancing profitability and margins, operational complexity, cost excellence, procurement savings, and the delivery of major investment programs. On the investor side, EFESO Management Consultants support financial sponsors and their portfolio companies with value creation initiatives.
Andreas Doerken, CEO for Americas at EFESO Management Consultants, said that the launch of the new arm expands the firm’s portfolio in the US, Canada and Latin America, and extends its commitment to serving asset-intensive industries.
“Mining, metals, and mineral processing companies are facing unprecedented pressure from supply chain localization requirements to feed variability, cost volatility, increasing safety and ESG expectations, and more,” she said. “We look forward to helping our clients in the Americas navigate these pressures and deliver sustainable value.”
The practice leader: James Metro
Appointed to lead the new practice is James Metro, who brings close to three decades of experience to the role. He previously was the Global Mining and Metals practice leader at Implementation Engineers, and earlier he held leadership roles at Proudfoot, among others.
Throughout his career, he has led multi-site mining turnarounds improving equipment availability and unit costs, optimized large-scale mineral processing operations to increase throughput and recovery, and strengthened capital portfolio governance to accelerate time to first production. He has worked across five continents.
“Mining and metals organizations operate in environments where small instabilities can create disproportionate losses in throughput, cost, safety exposure, and cash,” said Metro. “We know how to help organizations stabilize operations, align planning with real capability, and embed disciplined execution routines to deliver sustainable results.”
“By working side-by-side with teams in the C-suite and in the field, EFESO Management Consultants ensures that strategy translates into measurable, lasting performance improvement.”
In the Americas, EFESO Management Consultants operates with offices in Houston, Chicago, Toronto, Mexico City, and São Paulo. The private equity-backed company has around 1,000 consultants worldwide.
