CBIZ promotes Peter Scavuzzo to head of unified technology organization

CBIZ, a national accounting and consulting firm, has elevated Peter Scavuzzo to SVP and chief information and technology officer. He will continue to serve as president of CBIZ Technology.

Scavuzzo, who is based in the firm’s Cleveland headquarters, will succeed John Fleischer, who is retiring after 12 years with CBIZ. Scavuzzo will take on the expanded role on May 1.

Scavuzzo currently serves as chief strategy officer and national leader of technology – leading initiative in enterprise transformation, innovation, AI, and business intelligence for CBIZ and its clients.

In his expanded role, he will integrate CBIZ’s enterprise IT, client-facing solutions, and business transformation and innovation team under a unified leadership. Scavuzzo will focus on aligning technology with business needs, managing the technology portfolio, and ensuring business continuity.

“By bringing enterprise IT and Business Transformation and Innovation together under Peter’s leadership, we are advancing Technology, Data, and AI as an enterprise-wide capability,” said Jerry Grisko, president and CEO of CBIZ. “This will enable us to deliver greater insights and value to our clients supporting long-term revenue growth while driving efficiency.”

Scavuzzo joined CBIZ in 2024 as part of its acquisition of Marcum, a New York-based accountancy. He spent 17 years at Marcum and latterly served as chief information and digital officer and CEO of Marcum’s technology business.

Scavuzzo has a master’s degree in telecommunication networks and a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Polytechnic University.

“Technology is essential for all functions at CBIZ and for our clients,” Scavuzzo said. “By integrating leadership of enterprise IT with CBIZ Technology, we will better align investments with strategic goals, enhance resilience and security, accelerate delivery, and ensure that the business – and our clients – remain at the center of every decision.”

CBIZ has 9,500 people across 23 major markets in the US. It is the seventh-largest accountancy in the US, according to IPA, with annual revenue of $2.89 billion.
