Econic Partners adds Zawadi Lemayian to Finance practice

Zawadi Lemayian has joined the finance practice of Econic Partners, a Los Angeles-headquartered economic consulting firm, as a partner.

Based in Boston, Lemayian is a finance expert who provides economic analysis and expert testimony on the financial and economic implications of business decisions, transactions, and market events. She has advised on litigations and arbitrations in M&A, appraisal actions, breach of contract and warrant claims, fraudulent transfer allegations, and unjust enrichment claims.

Lemayian has worked with clients in a broad range of industries on disputes before courts and arbitration tribunals in the US, Canada, Australia, UK, Malaysia, and other jurisdictions.

She joins Econic Partners from Charles River Associates, where she spent six years and was a vice president. Before that, Lemayian spent seven years as an assistant professor at Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. Her academic research focused on corporate governance, board diversity, executive compensation, and financial disclosure.

Lemayian has a PhD in management science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

“Zawadi brings a rare combination of rigorous academic training and experience in finance and accounting matters. As our clients increasingly face disputes that sit at the intersection of finance, valuation, and economics, her expertise is exactly the kind of depth we want on our team,” said Jon Orszag, founding partner at Econic Partners.

Econic was founded in January 2025 and is backed by Goldman Sachs Alternatives and the family offices of economists Robert Willig and Janusz Ordover. The consulting firm advises clients on economic issues in antitrust litigation, mergers, and commercial disputes.

Econic has more than 300 professionals across locations in the Bay Area, Beijing, Boston, Brussels, Chicago, Copenhagen, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, New York, Paris, Sydney, and Washington, DC.

“What attracted me to Econic Partners was the exceptional caliber of its experts and consultants, united by their shared commitment to rigorous analysis and distinctive client service,” Lemayian said. “I look forward to working alongside such a talented team to help our clients navigate their important matters while contributing to the firm’s continued growth.”
