Perella Weinberg Partners appoints Karen Mou as managing director
Perella Weinberg Partners (PWP), an advisory firm which delivers strategic and financial advice to the private and public sector, has hired Karen Mou as a managing director and head of compensation.
Founded in 2006 and based in New York, PWP delivers a range of financial advisory services to clients across industry sectors, as well as to institutions and governments. The company’s corporate advisory unit provides mergers and acquisitions, financial restructuring, pension advisory, and private capital raising services, among others.
PWP’s asset management unit, meanwhile, provides investment vehicles catering to institutional investors, while also offering outsourced CIO services. The firm’s asset management clients include large pension funds, endowments, foundations, sovereign wealth funds, and high-net-worth individuals.
The consultancy has more than 500 employees, with six offices in the US, as well as further global offices in Canada, the UK, France, and the UAE.
Mou will be responsible for PWP’s compensation strategies and practices, as well as all associated activities. She brings more than 15 years of human resources analysis and compensation experience to the role.
Mou previously spent nearly eight years at Two Sigma Investments, where she most recently served as the business manager for the equities modeling business. Before that, she headed Two Sigma’s compensation and talent analytics function.
“We are excited to welcome an executive of Karen’s caliber to the firm,” Kyle Sugarman, partner and head of HR at PWP. “With her extensive experience developing and implementing compensation strategies in support of business growth, she will be instrumental in steering our practices as we continue to cultivate and expand our global talent base.”
Before Two Sigma, Mou was a director at UBS, where she was responsible for compensation and HR analytics in the investment banking division. Mou also spent time as an assistant vice president and HR analyst at Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers. She began her career as an analyst in the financial services practice at PA Consulting, an innovation and technology advisory firm.
Mou holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Princeton University.
“I am delighted to join such a well-respected independent advisory firm,” Mou said. “I look forward to working with the accomplished team here providing strategic compensation guidance to PWP at this pivotal time in the firm’s evolution.”
