Management consulting firm Navigant has appointed Grace Brasington as a managing director in its financial services advisory and compliance (FSAC) segment. The seasoned executive brings to the role more than 30 years of experience in risk management, compliance, and consumer finance.

In her new position, Brasington will help clients implement emerging technologies to improve operations while ensuring compliance within evolving regulatory frameworks. Over her expansive career, Brasington has developed the in-demand specialization of using machine learning and AI to better solve regulatory challenges, including financial crime, regulatory change management, and back-office modernization.

Brasington most recently spent three years at IBM, where she was vice president and global leader of risk in the Watson Financial Services division. There, she led a team of consultants that delivered cognitive solutions which improve the efficiency and effectiveness of compliance and risk management approaches.Navigant Consulting appoints Grace Brasington as managing director“Regulatory technology is a necessary component in combating the ongoing complexities of risk and compliance management,” Ellen Zimiles, managing director and segment leader of FSAC, said. “At Navigant, we strive not only to be up to speed in implementation, but to lead the efforts in providing our clients the most effective and efficient technology solutions. Grace’s background in developing and deploying emerging technology to tackle global financial risks is crucial in helping us pave the way.”

Before IBM, Brasington was chief compliance officer at SunTrust Bank in Atlanta, leading all aspects of the bank’s compliance program, including standards, privacy and complaints, and community reinvestment. She also spent time as chief risk officer at Lender Processing Services, and as executive vice president at Fidelity National Information Services, where she led the nationwide strategy within the payments segment of the enterprise banking unit.

Brasington had a previous consulting stint at KPMG, where she spent more than seven years and served as an account relationship director, leading the operations of the Southeast risk advisory practice in developing trusted relationships with enterprise banking clients.

“I am excited to join Navigant’s financial services team in providing our clients with guidance on choosing and implementing effective solutions to meet today’s risk and compliance challenges,” Brasington said. “Having spent the majority of my career working with emerging technologies at financial institutions, I understand that the intersection of business and technology must include practicality and performance, and I look forward to helping our clients at Navigant reach that endpoint.”
