Ryan, a Dallas-based business tax advisory firm, has acquired SALT Payroll Consultants, a St. Petersburg, Florida-based firm focused on state and federal payroll tax recovery.

Founded in 1994, SALT helps multinational corporations uncover payroll and employment tax refund and savings opportunities that may have been missed by internal resources or third-party service providers. The firm’s specialized tax professionals have delivered hundreds of millions in payroll tax refunds for Fortune 1000 companies.

Ryan’s acquisition of the firm expands its human capital tax practice capabilities, while also adding a number of Fortune 500 client relationships. Ryan’s human capital tax practice provides services in employment tax recovery and payroll apportionment factor review, global mobility taxation, and state unemployment insurance rate review and analysis, among other areas.

Cappock bring more than 25 years of experience in tax recovery from payroll and unemployment, M&A, restructurings, and other areas. Prior to joining SALT in 1994, Cappock had Big Four tax advisory experience working at EY and KPMG.

“Our complementary human capital tax services support Ryan’s growth strategy, and we look forward to delivering higher levels of value for our newly combined group of clients,” said Cappock.
