Resolution Economics, a speciality consulting firm that offers economic and statistical analysis – and expert testimony to law firms and corporations in labor and employment and commercial litigation – has been acquired by private equity firm Levine Leichtman Capital Partners (LLCP). Full terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed.

"We have been very impressed by the industry-leading business the Resolution management team has built over the years,” Matthew Rich, managing director at LLCP, said. “The company's history of solving complex issues has enabled it to become a critical partner to many of its blue-chip clients. We are excited to partner with the management team to continue to grow Resolution for the mutual benefit of all stakeholders."

Resolution focuses on “highly complex” class-action lawsuits. Its workforce consists of extremely experienced professionals, including 14 with PhDs and 32 whom hold master’s degrees. It also employs more than 70 SAS programmers. Seventeen of the firm’s consultants have severed as expert witnesses in lawsuits. The firm, which was founded in 1998, is headquartered in Los Angeles, and has offices in Chicago, New York City, and Washington, DC.

"Resolution has developed into a world-class consulting firm by always putting the interests of our clients first, constantly innovating, and identifying new opportunities to create value,” Ali Saad, managing partner at Resolution, said. “Our partnership with LLCP provides our firm the resources to invest in the human capital and technology needed to expand the services we offer to our clients. LLCP has a long history of being a value-added partner to its portfolio companies, and I look forward to our collaboration contributing meaningfully to the continued growth of our business."

LLCP is managed by six partners and serves the middle market. It offers services in sectors including franchising, professional services, education, and engineered products. By leverage a “Structured Equity” investment strategy, the firm is able to provide its clients with combined debt and capital investments  in portfolio companies, This allows LLCP to increase growth and income without the high risk that often rides alongside them.

Since its founding 36 years ago, LLCP has managed nearly $11 billion across 14 investment funds, and has invested in more than 80 portfolio companies. It currently manages more than $6 billion in assets. It operates out of international offices, including those in Los Angles, New York, Dallas, Chicago, London, Stockholm and the Hague.
