Lisa Ellis-James leaves BCG, joins law firm as COO
Long-time Boston Consulting Group (BCG) director Lisa Ellis-James has left the consultancy to join Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms in the US. She will act as chief operating officer (COO). She will be based in the firm’s Greenville, South Carolina office.
“As the legal market continues to evolve, it is critical for our firm to have a strategic focus and approach. Lisa’s vision and years of strategic leadership experience at a global consulting firm will benefit our firm as we head into 2020 and beyond,” Matt Keen, managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins, said. “She is a results-oriented leader and enthusiastic mentor. We are thrilled to have her on board.”
As COO, Ellis-James will head the firm’s practice and business support functions in areas including finance, IT, HR, knowledge management, real estate, data analytics, and litigation support. She will serve on the firm’s executive committee, and act as leader of the management committee – a group comprising Ogletree Deakins’ office managing shareholders.
Ellis-James spent 18 years at BCG, 14 of which were served in various directorial capacities – first as director of the consultancy’s global strategy practice, then as the practice’s director and global manager. She also served as senior director and executive manager for the strategy practice, before moving to senior director, global operational innovations and chief of staff for BCG’s operations leadership team. Before working as a director, she worked at the firm for four years, first as a consultant, then a project leader. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and her MBA from Emory University.
