Accounting and consulting firm Deloitte named company veteran Kara Klinger as the new leader of its Tampa Bay office. She succeeds Tom Corona, who retired in May after leading the office for seven years.

As Tampa leader, Klinger will oversee more than 1,000 accounting and consulting professionals and drive regional strategy for client service, growth, talent, and inclusion.

“We are client-centric, with a strong focus on understanding client issues and getting to what’s most relevant," Klinger said. "I look forward to building on our inclusive culture as the marketplace becomes more digitized, and responsive to community and societal needs.”

Klinger is an audit partner who has been with Deloitte since 1993. She has experience serving private and public growth companies in a range of industries, working on international financial reporting standards, initial public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions, among other areas.

Kara Klinger and Tom Corona, DeloitteKlinger was previously the leader of the Tampa/Orlando audit practice, overseeing audit quality and operations, as well as the talent-related aspects of the practice, such as performance management, professional development, and diversity and inclusion.

Prior to that, she was leader of Deloitte Private in Florida and Puerto Rico, and accounting & reporting advisory leader for North Florida, where she focused on non-attest advisory services.

Klinger holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of St. Thomas.

“Not only do her technical skills excel, but she has been instrumental in building up our people and in creating a culture of excellence," Corona said. "She has grown tremendously as a professional and as a leader, and she is more than ready to lead Deloitte into the next decade.”

Corona retires after a 38-year career in audit and assurance. He joined Deloitte in 2002 after spending two decades at Arthur Andersen, where he was a partner.
