Mystic River Consulting, a Los Angeles-based intelligent automation (IA) consultancy, has added an 11-person team of process automation professionals from KPMG’s Digital Labor Center of Excellence.

The move gives Mystic River an intact center of excellence (COE) that has already deployed hundreds of bots at a client site. The move greatly bolsters the boutique firm’s IA and robotic process automation (RPA) capability.

The transplanted COE will offer “plug and play” services to jumpstart new programs or help existing RPA programs scale up.

The KPMG team has built hundreds of bots and automated a half million hours of manual processes across various functions, including finance, HR, IT, and learning, and marketing. At Mystic, the team will leverage a proprietary service delivery platform that has an extensive library of reusable code, integrations, and best practice processes.

The group is led by Carla Luciano, who spend the last two years as an associate director of automation admin in KPMG’s Digital Labor Center of Excellence. In the role, Luciano managed multiple projects and worked with automation engineers to analyze business processes, recommend improvements, and implement and support automations.

Luciano has spent the last 23 years at KPMG US, working primarily in the firm’s learning and development function. She was previously a manager of technology-based learning and ethics & compliance training in the firm’s Montvale, NJ office.

The new team at Mystic River also includes program manager Jeff Berkowitz, technical lead Dennis Zaide, and portfolio activities manager Donna Slaughter, as well as business analysts (Ameera Afzal, Anjali Dhir), senior developers (Tyler Teschon, Rahul Pindi), and infrastructure support (Brendon Hurst).

Brian Raposo, Mystic River’s founder, said the company is ”poised to fill the role of providing highly specialized and targeted RPA and IA services with our ground breaking multi-tenant service delivery platform. The knowledge and experience of our team removes risk, fast tracks savings and, most importantly, allows for our customers to leverage process automation to gain a competitive advantage in a highly evolving market.”

The Los Angeles firm was founded in 2019 and has 15 employees, according to LinkedIn.
