AMR International hires events industry expert Michael Mandl as principal

AMR International, a London-headquartered management consulting firm, has hired Michael Mandl as a principal in its events ecosystem and technology practice. Based in New York, Mandl will also head the firm’s US operations.

Mandl brings two decades of leadership experience in the events industry, with expertise overseeing strategic planning, business and digital transformation, and mergers and acquisitions.

He has spent 16 years at Reed Exhibitions, holding increasingly senior roles at the London-headquartered tradeshow and convention organizer. Mandl has worked across the firm’s global operations, including in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

He most recently served as chief operations officer for Reed Exhibitions Latin America, where he merged the Mexico and Brazil business units, led several digital transformation initiatives, and boosted revenue streams across several product and service portfolios. Before that, Mandl was group vice president for the US, managing P&L for a trade show portfolio worth $210 million.

He was also previously CEO of the firm’s India operations, where he oversaw 60+ employees and led a successful turnaround of the business.

Apart from Reed, Mandl also served as business development director for Europe at Informa Exhibitions and managing director at Gruner + Jahr events in Germany. He began his career at consulting firm Capgemini, where he was a senior strategy consultant focusing on operations and process improvement engagements.

Mandl holds an MBA from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.
