Cognizant buys IT staffing firm Hunter Technical Resources
Technology consultancy Cognizant has acquired Hunter Technical Resources, an Atlanta-based IT staffing firm.
Founded in 1998, Hunter Technical Resources (HTR) sources IT professionals for contract, contract-to-permanent, and permanent placements. The firm recruits candidates across numerous areas, including software development, data engineering, systems administration, and cybersecurity engineering.
HTR has more than 70 employees across offices in Atlanta, Dallas, and Austin, and has worked with clients and industries nationwide – from small technology firms to Fortune 100s.
Cognizant’s purchase of HTR will enhance its access to IT talent across areas such as full stack development, data science, and machine learning. The acquisition includes HTR’s digital engineering practice but not its project management practice, which will remain an independent entity.“This acquisition expands Cognizant's access to the highly-specialized expertise our clients require to accelerate their digital transformation journey," said Rajesh Nambiar, president of digital business and technology at Cognizant. "Hunter Technical Resources has a long track record of sourcing high-value IT talent for blue chip clients. Their unique, blended focus on technology and relationship building fits perfectly with Cognizant's digital engineering franchise and our own client-first culture.”
The deal is Cognizant’s sixth acquisition in 2021 as the Teaneck, NJ-headquartered firm continues to strengthen its digital capabilities in engineering, data and AI, cloud, and IoT.
The firm earlier this acquired Magenic Technologies, a Minneapolis-based digital product engineering firm, and Linium, an Albany, NY-based provider of ServiceNow consulting.
Cognizant also last year expanded its Atlanta offices with the purchase of Tin Roof, a software product engineering and consulting firm.
"Hunter Technical Resources was founded 20 years ago with one mission -- recruit the best talent available, a passion we share with Cognizant," said Scott Hall, president of Hunter Technical Resources. "We are excited to have the digital engineering business we have built become part of Cognizant's large and growing digital engineering enterprise."
Cognizant has approximately 290,000 professionals globally providing a full suite of management consulting, IT, and outsourcing services.
