Grant Thornton names new office leaders for Boston, Cleveland, and Tulsa
Grant Thornton US has named new office managing partners for Boston, Cleveland, and Tulsa, effective August 1, 2022.
Chris Martin (Boston) has nearly 25 years of public accounting experience, with expertise serving clients in life sciences, technology, manufacturing, and hospitality. He joined Grant Thornton in 2015 and most recently served as managing partner of the Tampa office.
Before Grant Thornton, Martin spent over 12 years at Boston-based Feeley & Driscoll (now BDO), where he was latterly a partner. He started his career at PwC, where he was la senior consultant in the international tax practice.
Martin has a master’s degree in taxation from Northeastern University and bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Rhode Island, and is a certified public accountant.
Martin succeeds Kim O’Connor, an audit partner who retires after more than 18 years at Grant Thornton.John Barnes (Cleveland) has 25+ years of experience in audit, risk and compliance, and accounting consulting. He has been at Grant Thornton for the last 18 years and most recently led advisory services for Ohio, Michigan, and Western Pennsylvania.
Before joining Grant Thornton, Barnes spent three years as a manager at CohnReznick. He began his career in the audit practice of Arthur Andersen, where he spent over four years.
Barnes has an MBA from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and international business from Penn State University. He is a certified public accountant and a certified internal auditor.
Barnes succeeds Tom Freeman, a tax partner who retires from Grant Thornton after 16 years at the firm.
Jason Butler (Tulsa) has nearly 25 years of experience in public accounting, with 19 years spent in Grant Thornton’s Tulsa office. He has deep expertise providing audit services to startups, private companies, and large public companies across manufacturing, retail, and transportation.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Butler spent three years at PwC. He bas a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Oklahoma State University and is a certified public accountant.
He succeeds audit partner Brad Stoots, who retires after more than 20 years in Grant Thornton’s Tulsa office.
