Bowman buys Anchor Consultants, adds marine capabilities
Bowman Consulting, a national engineering consulting firm, has acquired Anchor Consultants, a Chadds Ford, PA-based marine engineering consultancy.
Founded in 2012, Anchor provides engineering services for waterfront facilities, including industrial ports, commercial and mixed-use waterfront developments, ferry and cruise terminals, and military port facilities. The firm’s offerings span feasibility studies; cost estimation; planning; under and above water inspection and investigation; design; permitting; construction inspection and management; dredging; and claim and litigation support.
Anchor has four employees, according to LinkedIn, and is led by founder Ahmad Nadeem. Prior to launching his firm, Nadeem spent a dozen years at Philadelphia-based Urban Engineers, where he was VP and director of marine engineering.
“Ports and harbors are a critical component of the nation’s infrastructure and Anchor provides us with a solid platform from which to build our presence and market share in this growing space,” said Gary Bowman, CEO of Bowman. “Ahmad has built a great team of experienced marine engineers serving an impressive list of clients with a broad array of services. Their expertise in waterfront planning, design, and engineering will enable us to provide these services to many of our current clients and gain immediate cross-selling opportunities for our client relationship managers.”
The acquisition will add approximately $2.5 million of annualized net service billing, according to Bowman Consulting.
The bolt-on is Bowman’s fifth in 2022, representing a cumulative added annualized net revenue of nearly $50 million. The Reston, VA-based firm last year had an initial public offering and is listed on the Nasdaq as “BWMN.”
Bowman also in 2021 expanded its Texas footprint with the acquisition of Terra Associates.
The firm today has more than 1,700 employees delivering infrastructure engineering services across the United States.
“Being part of a larger organization with more resources and a national footprint will no doubt facilitate accelerated growth for us,” Nadeem said. “Bowman’s culture aligns with what we have worked so hard to build here at Anchor and that was a major factor in our decision to join with them.”
