ZCG Consulting adds three new partners in New York

ZCG Consulting (ZCGC), the management consulting arm of merchant bank Z Capital Group (ZCG), has hired three partners in its New York headquarters: Stephanie Banyas, Omar Matar, and George Russell.

Stephanie Banyas has joined the firm as a partner in the food and beverage sector. She brings more than 30 years of experience in food and beverage operations, including 23 years as the director of culinary operations for celebrity chef and restaurateur Bobby Flay.

Banyas most recently spent nearly two years as a culinary instructor at Gallatin College Montana State University and pastry consultant at Rockford Coffee in Bozeman, Montana. She has a grande diplome in culinary arts from the French Culinary Institute in New York City.

Omar Matar has joined ZCGC as a partner in real estate operations and management. He brings more than a decade of experience in real estate, construction management, property optimization, and management.

He previously spent six years at Turner & Townsend – a consultancy serving real estate, infrastructure, and natural resources clients – where he was latterly an associate director. During his tenure he worked on several engagements in the sports, leisure, and hospitality sector, including Algonquin Times Square New York and New York Marriott Downtown.

Earlier in his career, Matar was a civil engineer at Midmac Contracting in Qatar. He has a master’s degree in civil engineering from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Lebanese American University.

George Russell joins ZCGC as a partner in the C-suite advisory practice. He has more than 40 years of experience building consumer and industrial product, service, and technology companies. For the last 20 years, Russell has focused on creating value and growth for private equity-backed companies, serving as CEO or operating partner across firms including Bain Capital, Blackstone/GSO, Cerberus Capital Management, and Oak Hill Partners.

He has an MBA from St. John’s University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Western New England College.

ZCGC provides value creation advisory to private equity firms and their portfolio companies. The practice’s offerings include performance improvement, finance transformation, and transaction advisory, as well as technology, human capital, and real estate solutions.
