FTI Consulting adds trio to investment banking subsidiary
FTI Consulting has welcomed three healthcare industry experts to its investment banking subsidiary FTI Capital Advisors: Rod Rivera, David Baker, and Roger Kahn.
The New York- and Denver-based team join FTI from Capstone Partners, a middle-market investment bank and former subsidiary of Arthur Andersen, where they were managing directors in the healthcare group.
Rod Rivera (senior managing director, New York) has more than 32 years of experience completing more than 100 transactions in healthcare investment banking, corporate banking, and leveraged finance. Prior to Capstone, Rivera was a managing director at RBS Citizens, Jefferies, CIBC World Markets, and Credit Suisse First Boston. Before his career in investment banking, he served in the United States Navy as a naval flight officer.
Rivera has an MBA from Stanford University, a master’s degree in systems management from the University of Southern California, and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the United States Naval Academy.
David Baker (managing director, Denver) has more than 30 years of experience in international M&A, capital formation, partnership agreements, and corporate strategic development. He has completed numerous transactions across healthcare services, medical devices, and healthcare IT. Before co-heading Capstone’s healthcare group, Baker was a managing director at Lazard and a VP at GE Healthcare.
He has an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Chicago.
Roger Kahn (managing director, New York) has more than 35 years of experience in M&A and financings, having worked on 100+ engagements involving medical device, biotech, and healthcare technology firms. Before Capstone, he was a managing director at CIBC Oppenheimer, L.F. Rothschild, and Bear Stearns.
Kahn has an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbia University.
“Our pedigree is client service, and this team’s wealth of industry expertise combined with our existing strengths in healthcare consulting, business transformation, transaction services and restructuring advisory will make for an exceptionally seamless client experience when guiding them through increasingly complex deals across the healthcare landscape,” said Glenn Tobias, global co-leader of FTI Capital Advisors.
Rivera, Baker, and Kahn will work with a team of approximately 300 FTI senior health and health solutions professionals, including operators, practitioners, RNs, MDs, clinicians, data analysts, and executives.
“FTI Capital Advisors is recognized as the group to call when a company is looking for subject-matter expertise in M&A, transactions and restructuring,” Rivera said. “Those capabilities, combined with our team’s experience in successfully closing unique and multifaceted healthcare transactions, will greatly enhance the group’s ability to provide ideal outcomes for clients in the healthcare space.”
FTI Capital Advisors focuses on M&A, capital raising, valuation, and special situations mandates in the media and entertainment, energy, real estate, healthcare, and industrial sectors.
FTI Consulting – which has more than 7,500 employees globally – on January 1 announced the promotion of 64 professionals to senior managing director.
