Albert Metz joins BRG's antitrust and competition practice
Albert Metz, PhD, has joined Berkeley Research Group’s antitrust & competition and financial services litigation & investigations practices as a managing director. He is based in New York.
Metz brings more than 20 years of experience in econometrics and litigation consulting, including over 15 years of experience in credit analysis and credit modeling. He has expertise across credit markets, bankruptcies, asset pricing, monopolization, market manipulation, fixed income securities, and debt derivatives.
Metz has advised on matters involving cryptocurrencies, multisided platforms, commodity and energy markets, and financial institutions. He has testified on behalf of the DOJ, FTC, and the SEC, as well as on behalf of defendants in bankruptcy proceedings.
Metz joins BRG from The Brattle Group, where he spent over two years as a principal. Before that, he spent two years as a managing director at Global Economics Group.
Earlier in his career, Metz spent 15 years at Moody’s Investors Services, where he latterly served as managing director of the global methodology development group – overseeing development of all credit rating models and methodologies.
He was also previously a principal analyst within the Congressional Budget Office and chief economist at Security Capital Group.
Metz has a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Occidental College.
"Albert is an important addition to our fast-growing antitrust and competition practice given his modeling work in fixed-income securities and complex debt and equity derivatives," said David Sunding, PhD, vice chairman and managing director, BRG. "His expertise will be incredibly valuable to BRG clients. I look forward to working with him as we continue to grow our antitrust and securities litigation capabilities."
Metz is the latest senior addition to BRG’s antitrust practice. The Emeryville, CA-headquartered firm last month announced the addition of David Evans, PhD, and Rosa Abrantes-Metz, PhD, as managing directors and in September welcomed David Sunding.
“It's an exciting time to join BRG as the firm expands its antitrust and competition practice as well as its securities litigation capabilities. I look forward to contributing to the group's continued expansion," Metz said.
BRG has more than 1,200 professionals across offices in the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific regions. It advises on corporate finance, disputes and investigations, and performance improvement and advisory.
