Abel Levin joins energy and utilities consultancy UMS Group

Abel Levin has joined energy and utilities consultancy UMS Group as a director based in San Diego.

Levin brings more than 15 years of experience in energy and utilities, with a focus on utility program management and energy engineering. He has supported private and federal clients in designing and deploying cleantech systems including solar PV, EVs, battery storage systems, green buildings, HVAC, passive solar, and smart grids.

Levin has expertise advising on data visualization and energy model development, technical design of renewable energy installations, environmental regulations, forecasting of energy market trends, contract negotiation and proposals, and microgrid technology development.

Levin previously spent six years at Booz Allen, where he was an energy program manager leading a team of engineers and experts on cleantech consulting engagements. Before that, he spent over four years at Wyle, where he was a principal engineer focusing on optimizing existing energy and construction technology for energy efficient buildings, as well as performing economic feasibility testing for energy storage, renewables, and remote energy management technologies.

Earlier in his career, Levin was an energy systems engineer at consulting firm New West Technologies, where he designed renewable energy systems and created contract proposals for federal facilities.

He has a master’s degree in engineering management from The George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in energy technology from the University of California, Berkeley. Levin is also a certified energy manager, project management professional, and LEED accredited professional.

“I am excited to work with UMS Group and utilities to pave the way for a new generation of energy and vehicle technologies,” Levin said.
