KPMG US has promoted Ruby Hancock to managing partner of its Memphis office.

Hancock – the first female office managing partner at a Big Four firm in the Memphis market – succeeds Greg Barnes, who is retiring September 30. Barnes spent 17 years at KPMG and served as Memphis leader since 2011.

“I want to personally thank all my KPMG colleagues, past and present, for their support and incredible work during my time with the firm,” Barnes said. “I’m proud that our focus has been learning from one another, providing excellent service to our clients, and supporting our local community. I can take great pride and comfort knowing that Ruby will lead our Memphis office and continue this success.”

As leader of the Memphis office, Hancock will oversee strategic direction and growth, as well as support the career development of over 60 partners and professionals.

Hancock joined KPMG in 2004 as an audit associate, was named a managing director in 2017, and was admitted to the firm’s partnership in 2019. She has extensive experience in operational leadership, business development, people development, and client service.

“I am honored and look forward to working with our tremendous team of partners and professionals to help our clients adapt and thrive in today’s ever-changing environment,” said Hancock. “I look forward to deepening our relationships in the market, continuing to mentor our professionals, build on our strong culture based on the firm’s values, and ultimately support the Memphis community.”
