American Software sells IT consulting unit to Marathon TS

American Software, an Atlanta-headquartered provider of supply chain management software, has sold its IT consulting business unit – The Proven Method – to Marathon TS, a Sterling, VA-based IT consultancy.

Founded in 1995, The Proven Method provides IT professional services and staffing solutions to telco carriers, systems integrators, and value-added resellers. The firm specializes in public cloud architecture, networking, unified communications, contact centers, and security.

The Proven Method has practices in cloud computing, custom application development, web and mobile development, business intelligence, and staffing. The firm’s staffing options include temporary or contract, contract-to-hire, and direct placement.

The Atlanta-based company has 46 employees listed on LinkedIn.

American Software's (Nasdaq: AMSWA) divestment of The Proven Method will allow it to focus on its core supply chain software business. The firm’s operating entity Logility provides a cloud-based SaaS platform for prescriptive demand, inventory, manufacturing, and supply planning tools.

Logility has more than 800 customers globally, including large firms such as Hostess, Husqvarna, and Big Lots.

“Supply chain planning is entering a significant transformation with advancements in technology, generational shifts of the workforce, and the significant speed of market changes and disruptions,” said Allan Dow, CEO of American Software. "This divestment optimally positions us to concentrate on delivering modern, breakthrough technology to the supply chain industry.”

The transaction, for which financial terms were not disclosed, completed on September 18.

Acquiring firm Marathon TS was founded in 2009 and provides IT services and staffing to federal clients including the departments of defense, state, energy, and veteran’s affairs, as well as to the US military. Marathon TS also works with private sector defense and technology contractors, including Lockheed Martin, IBM, and Booz Allen Hamilton.

The Washington, DC area firm’s offerings span intelligence analysis, software engineering & digital solutions, business & advanced analytics, systems engineering & integration, cyber security, and sustainment support. The company has 114 employees listed on LinkedIn.
