Al Bernikow, former deputy CEO of Deloitte & Touche, dies at 82
Alan (Al) Bernikow, the former deputy CEO of Deloitte & Touche, has died at the age of 82.
Bernikow, who lived in New York City and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan.
He retired from Deloitte & Touche – predecessor firm of Deloitte – in 2003 after 37 years with the Big Four accountancy and its predecessor firms. His last role with the company was as deputy CEO, assisting the chairman and CEO on special projects including M&A, partner affairs, and litigation. He was also a member of Deloitte & Touche’s executive management committee and served as an advisory partner to numerous large clients.
Following his retirement from Deloitte, Bernikow served on the boards of several prominent firms, including Revlon, UBS Global Asset Management, and Florida Community Bank. In 2009, he co-founded risk advisory firm K2 Integrity with Jules Kroll and Jeremy Kroll. He was a board member of K2 Integrity at the time of his passing.
Bernikow graduated from Baruch College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and was a certified public accountant.
In the realm of philanthropy, Bernikow and his wife supported a range of service and civic organizations – including The Joan & Alan Bernikow Jewish Community Center of Staten Island which bears their name. Bernikow also served on the boards of the Jewish Communal Fund, United Jewish Communities—The Federations of North America, UJA—Federation of Jewish Philanthropies, and Richmond University Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held on October 3 at 2:30pm at The Joan & Alan Bernikow Jewish Community Center of Staten Island.
