Cherry Bekaert acquires PKF Mueller
Cherry Bekaert, a national mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has acquired PKF Mueller, a Chicago-based accounting and consulting firm.
The deal, which includes business process outsourcing affiliate Mueller dotKonnect, will significantly expand Cherry Bekaert’s presence in Chicago, where it previously had one office.
PKF Mueller was founded in 1968 and has three offices in the Chicago metro area, as well as an office in Sarasota, FL. The firm has 200+ employees, according to LinkedIn.
PKF Mueller provides services in audit, risk, tax, and business consulting to privately held and publicly traded companies, local governments, and nonprofit organizations. The firm’s consulting offerings include financial consulting, international consulting, transaction services, business intelligence, and bankruptcy and turnaround services.
“PKF Mueller's long-standing reputation for delivering exceptional client service presents an exciting opportunity for us to further fortify our footprint in the Chicago area while leveraging our shared portfolio of services. We're thrilled to be combining forces with a firm of such stature,” said Michelle Thompson, CEO of Cherry Bekaert Advisory LLC.
The deal builds on Cherry Bekaert’s June acquisition of Legier & Company, a New Orleans-based forensic and litigation consulting firm.
David Nissen, CEO of PKF Mueller, said, "Our current mission and core values match with those of Cherry Bekaert. Through this acquisition, our dedicated people will build new skills and foster valuable relationships to further enhance our offerings. We look forward to growing with Cherry Bekaert and are confident our clients and our people will all greatly benefit."
Cherry Bekaert is headquartered in Raleigh, NC and has more than 1,600 employees serving clients in all 50 states. It is the 26th-largest CPA firm in the United States, with $349 million in annual revenue, according to Inside Public Accounting.
