Treliant hires Michael Scarpa as managing director
Treliant, a financial services industry consulting firm, has hired Michael Scarpa as a managing director in its regulatory compliance, mortgage, and operations solutions practice.
Based in New York, Scarpa brings over 15 years of management consulting and legal experience. He has a decade of Big Four experience delivering regulatory compliance and risk management advisory services to banks and fintechs. His engagements include advising large banks and payment networks on public enforcement actions, as well as supporting the implementation of significant regulatory changes.
"Mike comes to us at a time of elevated pressure on financial services companies of all types," said Karin Lockovitch, senior managing director, regulatory compliance, mortgage, and operations solutions. "His track record in helping clients weather extremely challenging enforcement actions and dramatically shifting regulatory requirements is emblematic of the value he brings to our firm's compliance and operations consulting practice."
Scarpa joins Treliant from PwC, where he spent the last year-and-a-half as a managing director in the cyber, risk, and regulatory team. Before that, he spent eight years at KPMG, where he was latterly a managing director in the financial services regulatory compliance and risk practice.
Before entering consulting, Scarpa was regulatory counsel at First Empire Securities, an institutional broker-dealer, and a senior associate at law firm Schroder and Strom LLP.
He holds a juris doctor from Hofstra University and a bachelor’s degree in economic policy and management from Cornell University, and has been admitted to the bar in New York at the state and federal level.
“In 2024, financial services risk and compliance leaders face daunting and unique challenges - economic, market, operational, and regulatory," Scarpa said. "It's a time when trusted advice, experience, and support can help clients rise to the challenge, and I'm gratified to be in a position at Treliant to assist them."
Treliant was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Washington, DC. The firm provides consulting, implementation, staffing, and managed services for the regulatory compliance, risk, credit, financial crimes, and capital markets functions of its clients. Treliant primarily serves banks, mortgage providers, and fintechs.
The consultancy has more than 300 employees across offices in the US, UK, Poland, India, and The Philippines.
Treliant last year added Laura Huntley and Thomas Ciulla as managing directors.
