KPMG appoints Patrick Ryan as head of DC office and federal sector

KPMG US has promoted Patrick Ryan to managing partner of its Washington, DC office and leader of its US federal sector.

Ryan succeeds Tim Gillis, who is retiring on September 30 after 26 years at KPMG. Gillis served as managing partner of the Washington, DC office since 2019.

As DC leader, Ryan will oversee the strategic direction and growth of the market as well as the career development of over 3,000 partners and professionals.

Ryan has over 24 years of experience in operational leadership, business development, people development, and client services.

He began his career in 2000, spending four years at KPMG’s DC audit practice before serving as senior director of SEC reporting at InPhonic and VP for accounting and valuation services at Integral Financial Group.

Ryan rejoined KPMG in 2011 as a partner in the audit practice, serving federal and commercial clients. In 2020, he was appointed US and Americas leader for accounting advisory services.

He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from James Madison University and is a certified public accountant.
