CIL hires Matthew Birtch as head of North America technology practice

CIL, a London-headquartered strategy and due diligence consultancy, has hired Matthew Birtch as a partner and head of the North America technology practice.

Based in San Francisco, Birtch will focus on expanding the firm’s relationships with the US investor tech community.

He brings more than 15 years of strategy consulting experience, with a focus on providing M&A advisory services to corporate and private equity clients in the tech sector. Birtch has expertise in managing complex transactions, optimizing deal structures, implementing transformative technologies, and maximizing value creation.

He joins CIL from Simon-Kucher, where he spent the last two years as North American leader of the transaction services and private equity practice. Before that, he held leadership roles in M&A strategy at Altman Solon, KPMG, and Strategy&.

Birtch also previously spent five years at Naspers, a South African internet and technology company, where he was head of corporate and business development. He began his career at EY’s London office, where he was latterly a senior manager.

Birtch has a master’s degree in finance from Cranfield School of Management in the UK, an MBA from the GIBS Business School in South Africa, and a bachelor’s degree from Rhodes University in South Africa.

Founded in 1986, CIL provides clients in a range of industries with services in business planning, growth strategy, market entry, due diligence, and data and analytics. The firm has over 200 employees across five offices in the UK, France, Germany, and the US.
