Michael Baker promotes Devendra Kumar to chief information officer

Michael Baker International, a Pittsburgh-headquartered design and engineering consulting firm, has promoted Devendra Kumar to chief information officer.

Based in Kansas City, Kumar will oversee the 4,900-person firm’s IT strategy and IT services team. He will focus on planning and implementing digital transformation initiatives – including the firm’s internal use of AI tools – as well as data security and compliance efforts.

Kumar has over 25 years of IT experience and has been at Michael Baker since 2022. He previously served as interim CIO and VP for digital transformation and operations.

Kumar previously spent six years at engineering consultancy Black & Veatch, where he was head of digital transformation. Before that, he was AVP for strategic accounts at IT consultancy Zensar Technologies and a client partner at Capgemini.

Earlier in his career, Kumar spent nearly 10 years at Infosys, where he was a senior IT project manager.

He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
