Alvarez & Marsal hires Michael Golichowski as corporate real estate leader

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), a New York-headquartered management consulting firm, has hired Michael Golichowski as a managing director and head of the corporate real estate and M&A transformation offering within its private equity performance improvement (PEPI) group.

Based in Chicago, Golichowski brings 20 years of experience advising corporate and private equity clients on real estate strategy, M&A transformation, and performance improvement. He specializes in due diligence, integration and carve-out planning, and portfolio optimization across sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, and chemicals.

Golichowski previously spent eight years with EY-Parthenon, where he was a principal in the corporate real estate team within the transactions, strategy, and execution practice. Before that, he spent five years with Grant Thornton, where he was a manager in the strategy and improvement practice focusing on real estate investment trust engagements.

Earlier in his career, Golichowski was an associate at commercial real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield.

He has a bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana University and is a certified real estate broker and project management professional.

“Real estate is often the last unturned lever in M&A, including the challenges of redefining the utility of the office after Covid,” Jeff Shaffer, PEPI managing director and M&A services practice leader, said. “Many companies are carrying excess space and right-sizing real estate footprints impact both cost and culture. Michael brings the expertise to align real estate with business strategy--driving efficiency, enhancing collaboration, and building long-term enterprise value.”

Golichowski added, “There is a unique commercial opportunity at A&M to build a market leading cross-industry M&A transformation practice specializing in corporate real estate. The firm’s ability to quickly leverage its strong market position and harness the full spectrum of its outstanding team’s capabilities is especially valuable in today’s complex deal environment.”

A&M provides advisory, business performance improvement, and turnaround management services to companies, investors, and government entities. The firm has more than 11,500 employees across 91 offices on six continents.

The firm recently welcomed Barry Gold as a New York-based managing director in its PEPI group.
