Alvarez & Marsal adds Brett Kumm as managing director in investigations and compliance

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), a New York-headquartered management consulting firm, has hired Brett Kumm as a managing director in the investigations and compliance practice within the disputes and investigations division.

Based in San Francisco, Kumm has more than 25 years of experience in internal investigations, forensic accounting, and white-collar crime matters. He has advised multiple Fortune 100s on matters involving the SEC and DOJ.

Kumm has consulted on whistleblower allegations, financial reporting disputes related to M&A, and alleged Ponzi schemes.

He joins A&M from FTI Consulting, where he spent nine years and was a senior managing director in the forensic and litigation practice. Before that, he spent 12 years at KPMG, where he was a senior manager, and five years at Arthur Andersen, where he was a manager.

Kumm has bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance from the University of Oregon and is a certified public accountant.

A&M earlier this year welcomed Anthony Italiano as a managing director and co-leader of its broker-dealer investigations and compliance practice.
