Telus Digital partners with ShiftMed on healthcare workforce management
Telus Digital, the business process outsourcing (BPO) and technology consulting arm of Canadian telecom firm Telus, has entered a strategic partnership with ShiftMed, a McLean, VA-based provider of healthcare workforce software.
ShiftMed’s workforce management suite helps health systems optimize labor through AI-powered scheduling and intelligent automation. ShiftMed’s solution embeds AI throughout the shift fulfilment process to minimize contract spend and improve control over operations.
The platform – which includes a mobile app to engage workers in filling open shifts – integrates with existing HR and scheduling systems.
ShiftMed’s platform has access to over 450,000 credentialed healthcare professionals to fill gaps with local, qualified W-2 staff on demand. The company says that its clients spend 6% less on labor than the average health system.
The partnership will combine ShiftMed’s technology platform with Telus Digital’s expertise in custom integrations.
"ShiftMed has built a powerful platform that’s reshaping workforce management, and this partnership takes it to the next level," said Todd Walrath, CEO of ShiftMed. "Every health system has its own needs, and adaptability is essential to making our platform the right fit. TELUS Digital is the ideal implementation partner to deliver that flexibility and enhance the user experience, and we’re excited to work together to solve some of the biggest challenges health systems face each day."
Telus Digital launched in 2005 when Telus invested in Ambergris Solutions, a BPO company in the Phillipines. The company would subsequently bolt on various offshore customer experience (CX) and IT services firms to create what is now an 80,000-person firm.
Telus Digital went public in 2021 and has approximately $2.65 billion in annual revenue. Although the firm focuses on CX management solutions, it also has offerings across enterprise data, IT modernization, digital marketing, and financial crime and compliance.
"Together, we’re focused on unlocking the power of digital and AI by measurably improving the patient experience while concurrently helping providers manage costs via optimized operations, reduced administrative complexity, and enhanced system flexibility," said Tobias Dengel, president of Telus Digital Solutions.
