Baker Tilly appoints Eric Miles as chief executive officer
Baker Tilly, a Chicago-based accounting and consulting firm, has appointed Eric Miles as chief executive officer, effective January 7, 2026.
Miles succeeds Jeff Ferro as head of the mid-market firm, which was acquired in 2024 by private equity firms Hellman & Friedman (H&F) and Valeas Capital Partners.
Miles was named CEO-elect of Baker Tilly in June 2025 following the merger of his previous firm Moss Adams with Baker Tilly. The $7-billion deal made Baker Tilly the sixth-largest CPA firm in the United States.
Ferro, who led Baker Tilly since 2023, will continue to serve on Baker Tilly Advisory Group’s board of directors.
“For more than 20 years, Eric has delivered exceptional leadership,” said Ferro. “He understands what our clients and our people need as the firm continues to evolve, and I have full confidence in his ability to lead Baker Tilly forward.”
Miles previously spent 27 years with Moss Adams, serving as CEO of the 4,800-person accountancy between 2022 and 2025. Before that, he was leader of the firm’s consulting business and its life sciences and technology and media sector practices.
Miles has an MBA from Purdue University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Pacific Lutheran University.
“My focus is on ensuring Baker Tilly continues to bring the right capabilities, talent, and perspective to support clients as they adapt and pursue growth, while building on the strong foundation established by Jeff and the leadership team,” Miles said.
Baker Tilly has more than 11,500 people across the US and annual revenue of $3.36 billion, according to Inside Public Accounting.
