Grant Thornton names Craig Woodfield as head of assurance quality and risk
Grant Thornton US has appointed Craig Woodfield as national managing partner for assurance quality and risk.
Based in New York, Woodfield will oversee quality control and risk functions for the mid-market accountancy’s audit and assurance business. He succeeds Jeff Hughes, who is retiring in June after a 40-year career.
Woodfield has more than 30 years of experience in accounting and audit. He has been at Grant Thornton since 2007 and most recently served as Northeast region audit practice leader.
Before that, he was audit practice leader for the East region, Central region, and Texas and Oklahoma. Earlier in his tenure at the firm, Woodfield was a partner in the professional standards group.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton, he was a managing director at Bear Stearns, treasury director at Electronic Data Systems, and CFO of Vesilinx, a private equity-backed technology services firm.
Woodfield has a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Brigham Young University and is a certified public accountant.
“At Grant Thornton, quality is the foundation of all that we do,” said Ron Messenger, CEO of Grant Thornton LLP. “Craig brings to this role a wealth of experience and deep commitment to quality, integrity and trust that will help us continue to raise the bar on all of our quality-focused initiatives.”
