Nick Studer appointed president and CEO of Marsh Risk

Nick Studer has been appointed as president and CEO of Marsh Risk, a global provider of insurance broking and risk management services, effective April 1.

New York-headquartered parent company Marsh (formerly Marsh McLennan) last year announced a significant rebranding initiative for itself and its four major subsidiaries. Insurance broking and risk services subsidiary Marsh was renamed Marsh Risk, and in 2027 Guy Carpenter (reinsurance) will become Marsh Re; Mercer (HR consulting and asset management) will become Marsh; and Oliver Wyman Group (consulting) will become Marsh Management Consulting.

Studer has served as president and CEO of Oliver Wyman since 2021. He will succeed Martin South as Marsh Risk’s leader. South, who has led Marsh Risk since 2022, will move on to serve as chief client officer of parent company Marsh.

Studer has been at Oliver Wyman since 1997. Prior to serving as CEO of the 7,000-person consultancy, Studer led several practices at the firm, including consumer, industrial, and services; financial services; European finance and risk; and global corporate and institutional banking.

He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in manufacturing engineering from the University of Cambridge.

“Nick joined Oliver Wyman nearly 30 years ago, and in the last five years, as its CEO, has driven tremendous growth,” said John Doyle, president and CEO of Marsh. “His experience advising corporate and public sector leaders on risk and transformation makes Nick the ideal executive to continue Marsh Risk’s market leadership and further its trajectory of growth and service excellence.”

Marsh in a press release said that it will announce a new head of Oliver Wyman by April 1.

“I am honored to lead Marsh Risk and delighted to be carrying forward our mission to grow a paradigm-shifting risk advisor, all-connected risk intermediary, and passionate advocate for our clients,” Studer said. “With our team, robust data and analytics, and AI-enhanced client experience, we will continue to help clients protect what matters most: their people, assets, and future.”
