Meet four of McKinsey’s new senior leaders in the US

Tracy Nowski, Alex Abdelnour, Deirdre McGinty, and Alex Liu are four of the newly elected senior partners and distinguished partners in McKinsey & Company’s US offices.

Based in Washington, DC, Tracy Nowski (senior partner) leads the philanthropy sector within McKinsey’s social sector practice. She works with foundations and high-net-worth individuals on maximizing the impact of grantmaking via strategy, organizational, operational, and governance support.

A lawyer by trade, Nowski worked in legal and advocacy roles in the women’s rights space before joining McKinsey. She has been with the firm for 15 years and has been a partner since 2018.

Nowski has a JD from Yale University.

“A strong and innovative civil society is more important than ever,” Nowski said. “That’s why I’ve focused my career on helping courageous philanthropists fuel the breakthroughs we need to advance economic mobility, reduce inequality, and improve health outcomes.”

Based in Atlanta, Alex Abdelnour (senior partner) is the founder of McKinsey’s distribution work within the industrials practice. A commercial transformation expert, Abdelnour advises distributors of automotive, industrial, concrete, and construction supplies on pricing, sales excellence, and go-to-market strategy.

He joined McKinsey in 2011 as an associate and was named a partner in 2019. Abdelnour has a PhD in civil and environmental engineering from Georgia Tech.

“Not all sectors are built equally,” he said. “My goal is to help organizations build resilient, insight-driven commercial engines that can adapt, grow, and lead in an increasingly uncertain world.”

Based in New York, Deirdre McGinty (senior partner) leads Nebula, McKinsey’s healthcare data and insights platform. She oversees a team of 100+ technologists, engineers, and product experts focusing on deploying data and analytics capabilities across healthcare.

McGinty has led major transformations for a wide range of providers, payers, and investor-backed healthcare services firms.

She has been with McKinsey for 15 years and has been a partner since 2017. Before joining the firm, McGinty spent four years with Katzenbach Partners (now Strategy&), where she was a manager.

She has an MBA from the University of Chicago.

“Capturing value from data and AI requires us to move beyond stand-alone solutions and embed technology into how organizations operate. That’s how we deliver better outcomes, at scale, in a way that is both sustainable and transformative,” McGinty said.

Based in Minneapolis, Alex Liu (distinguished partner) guides CEOs and executive teams on mergers and acquisitions – advising on high-level strategy down to the most specific details. He has worked on engagements across various industries, including healthcare, financial services, technology, retail, and consumer.

Liu joined McKinsey in 2006. Prior to his two-decade tenure with the Big Three strategy firm, Liu was a product manager with General Mills.

He has an MBA from Northwestern University.

“What drew me to the work was being a trusted adviser during one of the most significant, career-defining moves of their lives,” Liu said. “I’m there to help them think through tough decisions and understand the trade-offs.”
