Alvarez & Marsal establishes global AI board to scale its AI capabilities

Alvarez & Marsal, a New York-headquartered management consulting firm, has announced the formation of a global AI board to oversee the firmwide integration of AI into client delivery.

The new global AI board will oversee integration of AI into the firm’s core service lines, as well as play a central role in governance and risk management.

The board will be chaired by Antonio Alvarez III, head of the firm’s EMEA region. The board also includes Steve Wallace, COO, and Malka Katzin, chief AI and knowledge officer.

Katzin recently joined Alvarez & Marsal from Boston Consulting Group, where she was executive director for digital workplace, knowledge technology, and product enablement – leading the consultancy’s internal GenAI transformation initiatives.

“At A&M, we are applying AI with the same pragmatism and discipline we bring to everything we do, both for clients as well as for ourselves,” Alvarez III said. “For us, it is about using AI in real environments, combined with our operational expertise to drive lasting competitive advantage for our clients.”

Alvarez & Marsal says that approximately 20% of the firm’s revenue comes from AI, and the firm wants to grow that share to 50% of revenue – as much as $3.5 billion – by 2028.

The consulting firm says that it has attracted senior AI practitioners from consulting firms and tech firms, and it is launching an effort to recruit as many as 200 staff with AI skills.

“AI is breaking the traditional consulting model – and we are built for what comes next,” Katzin said. “A&M’s entrepreneurial culture, operational rigor, and agility are amplified by AI, delivering measurable value for our clients.”

Alvarez & Marsal provides advisory, business performance improvement, and turnaround management services to companies, investors, and government entities. The firm has more than 11,500 employees across 90+ offices on six continents.
