EY promotes David Zaozirny to leader of Houston office

EY US has promoted David Zaozirny to office managing partner for Houston, effective July 1.

Zaozirny, an assurance partner with 30+ years of experience, succeeds Esi Akinosho, who has led the Houston office since January 2021. Akinosho will remain at the firm as global client service partner for major energy companies across the US.

“Houston is a resilient, innovative community full of people and businesses that deeply care about our city, and David shares those same qualities. We’ve been working closely together to ensure a smooth transition, and I know he’ll excel in this role,” Akinosho said.

Zaozirny joined EY’s Houston office – which today has nearly 2,000 employees – as a partner in 2005. He currently serves as the US financial accounting and advisory services energy sector leader and the assurance advisory leader for the oil and gas, chemicals, and mining and metals sectors.

Zaozirny has extensive expertise advising energy, manufacturing, construction, technology, and mining firms on accounting, regulatory matters, and transactions.

Prior to his 20+ years at EY, Zaozirny worked in the assurance practice of Arthur Andersen.

He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Baylor University and is a certified public accountant.

A native Houstonian, Zaozirny has served on the board of the Houston chapter of March of Dimes for more than 20 years.

EY in April appointed Marney MacKenna as head of its Dallas office.
