Kentucky's Dean Dorton buys accounting ERP-focused Massey Consulting

Lexington-based accounting and consulting firm Dean Dorton has acquired boutique accounting software consultancy Massey. The Raleigh, NC –based firm will join Dean Dorton’s technology consulting business effective January 1, 2019.

With roots dating back to 1921, Dean Dorton is one of the largest Kentucky-based Certified Public Accountant (CPA) firms. In addition to assurance and tax, the company provides a raft of consulting services spanning from litigation support to technology transformations. The firm has a team that includes over 130 CPAs across its Lexington and Louisville locations, serving clients across the US.

Dean Dorton has recently been expanding its service capabilities, establishing a new wealth management business which offers advice on retirement planning, investing, and portfolio management, among other areas. The firm also recently added a full-service cybersecurity practice to its technology consulting business.

Now Dean Dorton has further bolstered its technology consulting business with the acquisition of Raleigh-based Massey Consulting. Founded in 2003, the consultancy helps clients implement and integrate accountings software – from the cloud-based Sage Intacct to Microsoft Dynamics GP. Massey’s team of six professionals serve over 100 clients in the US, Canada, and Australia. The move particularly expands the firm’s capabilities and geographical reach in implementing and supporting Sage Intacct, a cloud accounting solution that provides real-time data for businesses.
