Jabian Consulting opens Chicago office

Atlanta-headquartered Jabian Consulting has opened a Chicago office. The new location is the local client–model strategy and tech consultancy’s fourth office, joining Charlotte and Dallas.

Founded in 2006, Jabian Consulting provides strategy, operations, technology, customer interaction, and human capital management advisory services to clients across the US.

The firm prides itself on its local, "no travel" consulting model, which results in happier employees and lower travel expenses for clients. A constant and hectic travel schedule to client sites across the country (and globe) is one of the most pervasive critiques of consultancy employees, alongside consistently long work weeks. For the majority of the large firms, however, travel is an unavoidable part of the deal.

Another notable firm that purports to follow the "local only" model is Seattle-based Slalom. Both Slalom and Jabian receive very high ratings on employee review site Glassdoor, scoring 4.3/5 and 4.5/5 respectively.

Another value proposition proffered by Jabian is a strong focus on guaranteed results. The firm sets goals and milestones in advance, then pledges to meet them until the goals are met, even if it’s on Jabian’s dime.

The company also places a heavy emphasis on community involvement, working with local charities through its own charitable foundation, Jabian Cares.

The consultancy believes that its local and people-based operating model builds stronger and longer-lasting client relationships, while creating a great employee environment and building real connections with the communities in which they live and work. Chicago is now one of those communities.

“Chicago is Jabian’s kind of town,” Brian Betkowski, Jabian's cofounder and managing partner, said. “We looked at a lot of locations and found its people and opportunities align with Jabian’s culture and values. Chicago has great business diversity and deep community involvement, which are hallmarks of our business model.”

The Chicago location will be headed by executive director Dan Hickey, a veteran of Big Four firms Deloitte and KPMG. Previously a senior manager at Deloitte Consulting, Hickey has more than 15 years of management consulting experience.
