CBRE announces flexible workspace location at PwC Tower in Dallas

Real estate consulting and investment giant CBRE has announced that it will launch the first location of its Hana flexible workspace at PwC Tower at Park District in Dallas. The workspace unit is slated to open in mid-2019.

Driven by the unique needs of start-ups and freelancers, flexible workspaces have surged in popularity in recent years. Dominated by players such as WeWork and Bizspace, there is now estimated to be 80 million square feet of flexible space in the US.

Los Angeles-based CBRE is aiming to get in on the market. CBRE created the Hana subsidiary late last year to help property owners meet demand for flexible office space. It has a range of partner services, including design, build, and facility operation.

Hana has three core offerings: Meet, Share, and Team. Hana Meet provides conference room and event space that can be reserved hourly, daily, or weekly, while Hana Share offers standard co-working spaces where renters share services, amenities, and technology.

Hana Team offers private office suites for high-growth firms and large corporations, combining the benefits of flex-space with greater control over branding, amenities, and technology of the office setting.

Hana’s first unit is expected to launch in mid-2019, taking up residence at PwC Tower, which has more than 500,000 square feet of office space, and is part of Park District, a 900,000-square-foot, mixed-use complex. Combining office space, restaurants, and luxury residences, Park District is located “near the heart of Downtown Dallas,” according to a CBRE release.

Dallas is a good spot to spearhead the company’s offering, as it - along with San Francisco, San Jose, Austin, Boston, and Washington, DC - is one of the top six high-growth cities in the flex-space market, according to a 2018 report from The Instant Group.

“We couldn’t ask for a better location to launch our first Hana unit at a premier building with first-class amenities,” Andrew Kupiec, CEO of Hana, said. “Our flexible approach provides owners and employers a plug-and-play solution that enables people and teams to accomplish great things.”

CBRE was recently named the top global brands in commercial real estate in a survey from The Lipsey Company, an accolade it has received for 18 consecutive years. The company was also named one of Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable Companies in the US earlier this year, and has placed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for five years.
