Bain & Company appoints Ramesh Razdan as chief information officer
Management consulting firm Bain & Company has hired Ramesh Razdan as its new chief information officer (CIO). Razdan was previously chief technology officer at rival strategy firm Boston Consulting Group.
In his new role as CIO at Bain, Razdan will oversee the firm’s digital transformation – answering the question of “who transforms the transformers?” Razdan will use innovative tools and technologies to help Bain’s client facing teams unleash new ways of working, while ensuring the firm’s internal technology remains best-in-class.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ramesh to Bain & Company," said Steven Tallman, partner and head of the firm's global operations. "He has a long and accomplished history of introducing new technologies to drive digital transformation. With his combination of strategic and innovative thinking, he will be critical in helping consultants and support staff across the firm deliver truly transformative results."
Razdan has over 25 years of technology experience, and joins Bain from rival BCG, where he spent one year as CTO and head of product engineering. At the similarly digital-focused BCG, Razdan drove the firm’s transformation across cloud, automation, and Agile.
Before that, Razdan spent 17 years at Dell and EMC, where he served as senior vice president of enterprise applications and data services. In the role, he led the strategy and execution of all enterprise services at Dell, including ERP, Big Data, cloud, and APIs. Prior to that, Razdan served as vice president of Big Data and analytics at the firm.
He started his career as technical team lead at Pertech Computers Ltd. in India, moving on to work as a manager at the National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT). Razdan holds a degree in electronics engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University.
"I'm pleased to join the talented team at Bain & Company, which is at the forefront of applying technology and digital strategies across all aspects of its clients' businesses – from strategy and organizational design to customer impact and scalable execution – as well as its own," Razdan said. "I look forward to working with the leadership team and case teams and support staff around the world to identify and implement breakthrough tools that will help them embrace digital innovation."
Razdan is a noted industry expert across the topics of Big Data, machine learning, AI, and cloud architecture. He is a frequent speaker at technology conferences and events, and has written a number of articles on technology trends and solutions.
