Business advisory and expert services consulting firm Ankura has announced that Michael A. Criscito will join the firm as a senior managing director. He will be based out of New York and focus on real estate restructuring.

"Michael is a welcome addition to our team," Kevin Lavin, co-president and global head of Ankura’s turnaround and restructuring practice, said. "His breadth of experience and background creates an excellent fit within our turnaround and restructuring practice and specifically within the real estate sector, enabling Ankura to continue to provide exceptional service for our valued clients."

Criscito will join Scott A. Fowler, who was appointed a senior managing director in early September, in co-leading the Ankura Real Estate Advisory (Area) platform. Area will offer advisement services to owners, investors, lenders, and other real estate users. The platform’s goal is to maximize the value of its clients’ real estate portfolios.

Criscito most recently worked at Credit Suisse, where he spent more than 20 years, serving as a managing director, the head of international recovery management, and the head of reputational risk for the Americas. There, he was responsible for a multi-billion-dollar real estate portfolio across various asset classes including residential, golf, hotel, land, office, and entertainment. He also previously served as vice president of HSBC Global Banking and Markets.

Criscito holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from The George Washington University, an MBA from Fordham University, and is a graduate of the University of Michigan’s Ross Executive Program.

"It's an honor for me to be joining such a talented group of people at Ankura," Criscito said. "The team has a great reputation for collaboration and delivering results for clients and I look forward to working with them all."

Criscito’s appointment continues Ankura’s strengthening of its real estate advisory and valuation team. In addition to the aforementioned Fowler, the firm recently hired William Brown and Robert Unell as managing directors in the practice. Ankura is based in Washington, DC, and has offices across the US, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
