Accounting and consulting firm Mazars USA has named Jason Pourakis as leader of the accounting and advisory service line, Jonah Gruda as leader of the private client services (PCS) practice, and Carlos Martins as leader of the real estate practice.

The appointments were part of New York-headquartered Mazars’ “ongoing expansion and business strategy,” according to a release from the firm.

Gruda succeeds Lisa Osofsky as PCS practice leader, while Martins succeeds Shahab Moreh as real estate practice leader. Osofsky and Moreh will continue on as partners and members of Mazars USA’s executive board.

As leader of the accounting and advisory service line, Pourakis will oversee a national team that works with thousands of privately owned businesses, from startups to medium-sized businesses to mature multinationals.

Pourakis has been with Mazars since 2001 and became a partner in 2014. He has delivered public accounting services to a wide range of businesses over the last two decades, with a focus on manufacturing and distribution. Pourakis holds a BS in accounting from Baruch College of the City University of New York.

Gruda will lead a PCS team that delivers tax planning, consulting, and compliance services to high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs). Mazars USA provides personal accounting services to Donald Trump, among other HNWIs.

Gruda has 18 years of experience advising HNWIs – including executives, investment bankers, private equity managers, and families. He specializes in income taxation, executive compensation planning, wealth preservation, and estate planning.

Gruda has been a tax partner at Mazars since 2014. He holds a BS in accounting from Penn State University.

Martins will lead a team that provides solutions and advisory support to real estate investors, owners, managers, and developers. Martins has been with Mazars since 2000, and has more than 15 years of experience supporting the real estate sector with audit, advisory, and accounting services. He has expertise in validating the financial track record of real estate operators and providing fair value measurement of property, among other areas.

Martins has been a partner at Mazars since 2014. He holds a BS in accounting from Long Island University – C.W. Post Campus.

Mazars earlier this year appointed Ranjit Jaswall as national leader of the governance, risk & compliance (GRC) practice and Brian Clouse as national audit service line leader.
