Ashfield Engage, a specialist healthcare consulting firm, has acquired Nuvera, a New Jersey-based pharmaceutical industry consulting firm specializing in patient support programs.

Founded in 2010, Nuvera focuses exclusively on the rare disease and specialty therapeutics markets. The firm helps pharma and biotech firms design and enable seamless and streamlined treatment experiences.

The consulting firm’s team of more than 20 employees has supported 7 of the top 10 pharma companies, as well as numerous startups and mid-sized firms.

Ashfield Engage’s acquisition of Nuvera will enhance the company’s patient solutions practice. The addition of Nuvera will create a strategic offering that stretches across the pharma product lifecycle, including late-phase clinical trial experience, implementation, and post-commercialization satisfaction benchmarking and service optimization.

“Our combined expertise and capabilities will also allow greater visibility across the market landscape to better refine and refresh programs as new market challenges arise,” said Nareda Mills, global president, patient solutions, Ashfield Engage. “The Nuvera team is an exceptional asset to add to Ashfield Engage, they are pioneers in redefining the treatment experience and I am truly excited for what lies ahead.”

Aside from its patient solutions practice, Ashfield Engage has commercial, medical affairs, market access, and event experience consulting practices. A specialist in strategic engagement, the firm has 5,000 employees across 50+ countries and supports pharma, biotech, medical devices, health plans, and provider clients.

Formerly Ashfield Commercial and Patient Solutions, the UK firm was acquired by healthcare giant UDG in 2000. The Ireland-based based provider of advisory, clinical, commercial, communication, and packaging services owns numerous US healthcare consulting firms, including Vynamic and Putnam Associates.

“We are passionate and value the role we play creating solutions that positively impact patients, and we will continue to provide the same experience for clients, now with the added benefit of the Ashfield Engage team’s expertise and capabilities,” said Greg Klein, founder and managing partner, Nuvera.

Bourne Partners served as financial advisor to Nuvera on the transaction.
