CohnReznick opens office in Miami
CohnReznick, a national accounting and consulting firm, has opened its first office in Florida with a new location in Miami.
The office, located in the heart of the financial district of Miami, will house the firm’s growing South Florida team, which numbers approximately 20 people. CohnReznick will lease 4,100 square feet in the 1221 Brickell Building.
The Florida team has deep industry expertise in financial services and commercial real estate, with strong capabilities in turnaround, transactions, and private client services.
Mike Micholas, CohnReznick's regional managing partner for the Mid-Atlantic, will lead the Miami office. Micholas has more than 30 years of audit, accounting, tax, and consulting experience, and has been at CohnReznick since 2014, when it bought Watkins Meegan LLC. He had previously spent 32 years at Watkins Meegan.
“I’m honored to lead our Miami office and to help add a new chapter to our firm’s growth strategy,” he said.
CohnReznick plans to expand hiring for campus recruits and experienced talent in Miami as the firm looks to address client needs and market growth.
Several consulting firms have launched new outposts in Florida as the state continues to attract companies and talent with its attractive business environment, competitive cost of living, and warm weather. Grant Thornton recently launched a new center of excellence for indirect tax in Orlando, while IT consultancy Soltech expanded into Florida with a Key Largo location. Slalom, a large Seattle-based technology consultancy, in 2019 expanded into Florida with a Miami office.
“CohnReznick has been serving Florida businesses in many different industries for years,” said CohnReznick CEO David Kessler. “Establishing an office in Miami allows us to bring our full capabilities to meet the expanding needs of the South Florida marketplace and, in particular, to build upon our expertise and market growth in our Real Estate, Financial Services, and Government practices, and support the capital markets with transaction advisory and restructuring services.”
The market expansion follows on the heels of the New York-based firm’s October acquisition of Kevin P. Martin & Associates, a Massachusetts-based accounting and consulting firm with approximately 100 people.
CohnReznick is the 16th largest CPA firm on Inside Public Accounting’s 2021 list of the Top 400 firms in the US, with revenues of $673 million. The company has 24 offices in the US as well as subsidiary firms in the Cayman Islands, Netherlands, Hong Kong, India, and Australia.
