Baretz and Brunelle hires Howard Rosenberg, launches talent offering
Baretz and Brunelle, a legal industry public relations and consulting firm, has hired Howard Rosenberg to lead a new talent intelligence and analytics practice.
The new practice will support law firms with vetting, integrating, and promoting lateral hires – professionals who leave one firm for another to take a position with the same title. This has been a particularly competitive area in the legal field as the talent market has dried up in recent months.
Led by new partner Howard Rosenberg, the talent practice will provide firms with detailed intelligence reports on prospective lateral hires; onboarding support including client integration and business development planning; assessment reports to maximize client development opportunities; and an under-development analytics tool to maximize success of lateral transitions and integrations.
Rosenberg has spent more than 15 years in leadership roles at AM Law 100 and Silver Circle law firms and seven years ago co-founded Decipher, an investigative intelligence specialist for lateral hires. He previously served as COO of Baker Mackenzie, head of business development strategy for the private equity practice at Debevoise & Plimpton, and managing director at Berwin Leighton Paisner in London.
He has an MBA from the University of Cambridge and bachelor’s degrees in architecture and fine arts from the Rhode Island School of Design.
“Law firms’ main assets are the individuals who walk in and out each day,” said Rosenberg. “I see a huge unserved need to assist law firms in identifying, onboarding, integrating, and growing the businesses of the right individuals. Baretz+Brunelle is the perfect place to create this unique practice, not just because it has the ideal skill set, but it has the commitment to supporting it fully, including the development of predictive analytics and other advanced tools.”
Baretz and Brunelle is based in New York and has a team of more than 30 professionals. The firm provides corporate communications, digital marketing, and NewLaw services to law firms and related businesses.
“You can’t follow the business of law today without understanding how much law firms have at stake in lateral hiring and integration,” said Baretz+Brunelle co-founder Spencer Baretz. “At Baretz+Brunelle, Howard will build on his experience providing intelligence on lateral candidates, but now through a more robust and complete offering that supports law firms’ lateral hiring strategies in an even more meaningful way.”
Following Rosenberg’s hiring in February, his former partner at Decipher sent a cease and desist order, according to Law.com. Decipher says Rosenberg has its protected information, but in a separate suit launched on Monday, Baretz and Brunelle asserted that Rosenberg has not misappropriated any of his former company’s intellectual property.
